The DODIS Worldwide Convention will be held in Orlando, FL. Bennett McPhatter (our COO) and Bruce Ferber (our CFO) will be hosting the VAI booth at this event.
June 2, 2003
VAI will host a booth at the MITRE's 3rd Annual Analysis Cell Initiative meeting. This event will be hosted by MITRE at their facilities in McLean, VA.

MIDAS, Maryland's Economic Development Association & 2003 Conference, will be held in Cumberland, MD. Chris Westphal, our CEO, has been invited to speak.
June 30-July 2, 2003
VAI will be participating in the Government Symposium on Information Sharing & Homeland Security in Philadelphia, PA. This symposium focuses on preventing, preempting, and disrupting terrorist threats.
July 8-11, 2003
The 2003 ONDCP Supply Reduction Technology Symposium will be held in San Diego, CA, at the Town and Country Resort and Convention Center. Bennett McPhatter will represent VAI at this event.

What's New?
Young Maryland Entrepreneur of the Year Nominee
The management team, BCD, has been nominated as one of 25 finalists for the Ernst & Young Maryland Entrepreneur of the Year for 2003.
VAI is honored to have been nominated for this prestigious award. The awards ceremony will be held on Thursday, June 19th at the Hyatt Regency in Baltimore.
The winner of this event will be inducted into the Entrepreneur Of the Year Institute and be invited to the National Conference.

Visual Analytics was one of the sponsors for the WBO-MC's (Women Business Owners of Montgomery County) 2003 Annual Member Appreciation Reception & Awards Ceremony on May 15, 2003. Approximately 50 people braved heavy rains and Rockville's rush hour frenzy to celebrate this event. VAI Expansion
Visual Analytics has been expanding. Over the past month, quite a number of new faces can be found at Visual Analytics where new employees
have been hired for testing, training, support, development and sales. Visual Analytics strives to identify and hire some of the best talent in the industry as we continue to expand our offerings by enhancing our products and providing better support for our community of users. We are very pleased to have these new hires on-board and look forward to everyone having a long and rewarding career at Visual Analytics.
One of our more senior staff, Jim Young, recently joined Visual Analytics as Senior Sales Representative. Jim has a diverse background in intelligence, technology, sales, and marketing. Previously he was with EMC Corporation serving as Strategic Programs Capture Manager for Intelligence Community and Department of Defense programs. Prior, Mr. Young worked for the Directorate of Science and Technology, CIA, as an Intelligence Analyst receiving several exceptional performance and "Eagle Eye" awards for analytical finds during his career. He was also a Sales Manager for Walt Disney World Sports Attractions for premium events including Atlanta Braves Spring Training, Harlem Globetrotters, ESPN Special Televised Events, and the Men's Clay Court Championships. Jim graduated from the University of South Carolina in International Studies with an emphasis on National Security Policy. He has taken graduate courses at the University of Virginia on leadership and at RAND Corporation in Defense Studies.

Employment Opportunities
Field Support Engineer - two (2) positions available
These on-site technical support engineers will support one or more DOD customers, including analytical and modeling support. Technical support responsibilities will require on-site support for VisuaLinks in the following areas: troubleshooting, model building, installation and configuration, performance analysis and tuning, training and to lend assistance to the database administration staff on matters concerning VisuaLinks.
Requirements: A BA/BS in Computer Science or 5 years of equivalent technical experience with large relational databases (Oracle, MS SQL Server, Sybase, Informix) Oracle experience is a plus. Scripting and network experience, especially troubleshooting, required. Data mining or visualization experience is helpful. Training experience is highly desirable. Current TS/SCI security clearance required.
Trainer and Technical Writer - one (1) position is available
This position will be expected to conduct on-site training for the VAI tool suite, to include both VisuaLinks and DIG. Additionally, the successful candidate will assist our technical writing staff in maintaining and extending our documentation program.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a background in technology training to include the creation of training objectives, lesson plans, presentation materials and end-user exercises. The candidate will also be required to demonstrate strong technical writing skills.
Requirements: A BA in English or a similar course of study, or 5 years of equivalent technical training and writing experience. The candidate must show at least two (2) years of professional experience as a technical trainer and technical writer. A portfolio of sample work would be helpful. Current TS/SCI security clearance is a plus.
